How do I place a bid?
If you have found an auction you would like to place a bid on you can do so quickly and easily by following these steps:
Standard Auction Format
- Login (securely) to your account: If you have not registered you can do so within 2 minutes. Click Here To Register.
- Visit the auction listing.
- On the auction description page you will see a bidding box, type in your bid amount, press the "Submit" button and then you will confirm your bid amount on the next page. Note: Some sellers may elect to have only ID Verified Bidders bid on their auctions, Click Here to learn more about ID Verified. You don't want to wait until the final minutes to bid and then discover you need to be ID Verified.
- You will then be asked to confirm you bid, once you have done so your bid will be entered, if successful you will receive a confirmation message. If your bid fails to outbid the current high bidder you will be offered the option to place a higher bid. Proxy bidding can aid your chances of winning an auction and help avoid you being outbid at the last moment. To place a proxy bid enter in the maximum price you are willing to pay for the item. If another user places a bid on the same auction automatic bids will be placed on your behalf in accordance with your maximum bid amount. With proxy bidding you will pay the lowest possible price until someone else places a higher bid.
Using The BuyOut Feature
There is another way of purchasing an item, by using the exclusive Biker Bids BuyOut Feature. The Biker Bids BuyOut prices are set by the seller, if you agree with that price, you can click on the BuyOut button which is displayed on the auction details page. After clicking on the button you will be re-directed to a confirmation page. If the auction has only 1 item available and not multiple quantity, that is a Standard BuyOut, which upon completing the bidding/buying process the auction will automatically end. If the auction was listed with multiple quantities, the auction available quantity is reduced by the quantity you purchased and remains active until all quantities are purchased. Once you complete the purchase process, your portion of the auction will be completed and you can finish your purchase immediately!
Dutch auctions
On a Dutch Auction, offers multiple quantity as the Seller has more items of the same product for sale. The bidder will enter a maximum bid he is willing to pay for an item, and the number of items he wants to purchase. The highest bidder(s) will receive the number of items they have bid on, and the remaining bidders will receive the number of items still available.
Is it possible to retract my bid?
Although we strongly suggest that you do not retract any bids, as long as the auction has not ended and is still current you can retract an active bid. To retract your bid, just log in and go to your Bidding page, you will see the auction link for the item you have bid(s) on, beside each link is a "Retract" link. Click that link.
After I place a bid, can I increase my maximum bid (proxy bid)?
Yes, return to the auction page and place your new higher bid. I will not bid against yourself, meaning if you are the current high bidder and you return to up your maximum bid, it will not the auctions current high bid, it will only increase your proxy bid.
How will I know if I am outbid?
You will receive an email informing you that you have been out bid. If there is still enough time left before the auction ends, you can return to the auction page and bid again.
Why did my bid jump so high?
When you placed your bid after someone else has bid, if your proxy amount was high then their proxy amount, your current bid will be the next bid increment above their proxy. If you still have a proxy amount above that amount it will not bid that high until someone else comes along and bids against you which is what the proxy bidding does. It bids for you until your proxy amount has been outbid, or the other bidder doesn't exceed your proxy and stops bidding.
What if I cannot contact the seller?
If you have not gotten any response from emails, you can also log in and go to the Bidding area, click on the View Auction Details link and that will display all the auctions you have won, along with each seller's contact information, including their phone number.
Please keep in mind that the seller may have encountered a personal emergency or has been unable to respond to his/her email. If you are unable to contact the seller within a reasonable amount of time, we encourage you to use our Dispute Console. The Dispute Console is located in the member My Account area - Click Here. This will help in the resolution of completing the sale and if it is still unable to be resolved, after review by one of our moderators the seller could receive a Non Performing Strike of which 3 strikes and their account will be suspended.
You can also follow up by leaving the appropriate feedback. Another option, (to be used when all else fails) is to use the Biker Bids Free Internal Mediation Process!
What do I do if the seller decides not to sell the item?
Although we do hope all our buyers and sellers follow through with their auction commitments, Biker Bids cannot force anyone to complete a transaction if they choose not to. If this situation does occur, bidders are encouraged to take action by leaving appropriate feedback. You can also use your Dispute Console described above which could result in the seller receiving a Non Performing Strike.
